Helllo!
First blog post...
I'm about to graduate from London Cotnemporary Dance School, and naturally I am journeying along the terror road, that goes from happy, positive student and leads to terrified, unemployed tax payer. So to be 'pro-active' as the saying goes, I decided to set up a website and blog detailing my every move, hoping potential employers stumble across it and jump at the chance to pay me, or potential funding agencies decide to give me a wad of cash for my creative brilliance. Hmm.
So...I am performing in a darnce piece, which premiers at the Robin Howard Theatre on Friday the 25th February and runs all the way to Saturday the 26th February. Choreographed by Robert Clarke and features 8 glorious dancers currently in third year at London Contemporary Dance School. So come along and say how amazing it was- and if you feel like it, give me a job :)
Also working on a few of my own projects- firstly I am choreographing a piece for 3 dancers, which involves collaborating with a postgraduate composer from Guildhall School of Music and Drama. It's still pretty early in the whole process, but hopefully if I get on with it, I should have something I'm happy with and worth showing! The collaborations are being shown at the Robin Howard Theatre on 30th & 31st March, and also at Guildhall on the 28th March. Again, come and have a look, Im guessing the tickets are either cheap or free, for those equally strapped 'job seekers'.
Secondly I am reviving a solo piece I created which looks at leaving the elements of a piece to chance, and letting nature take its course (no- not cunningham-esque before you ask...). Hopefully this will be performed at the Siobhan Davies Studio as part of a choreography sharing- which is pretty exciting pour moi!
Another reviving-style piece- one I made last year entitled 'Dancing for Dummies' which is exciting for me as I'm working with 12 dancers, and I am submitting it for the LC3 tour (part of LCDS). It's only a short little piece, but the costumes are tres entertaining and if you fancy a laugh, have a gander!
So very busy atm, here's to a busy future!
Anyway, I'm rabbiting now, so stay tuned for exciting trips to South Africa and Australia, my attempt at launching a career, £10,000 prizes and so much more.....
Thanks for reading!
